Why Coffee Academy?
Although coffee is one of the most consumed and social beverages in the world, there is much misinformation or a lack of knowledge about it. Coffee undergoes many processes that require great care and expertise before it reaches your cup. As with everything, knowledge about coffee, quality factors, production, and processing techniques are evolving and changing. Toper Coffee Academy was established to meet the never-ending need for learning and sharing knowledge about coffee through the internationally respected SCA system.
Coffee is the second largest commodity in the world after oil.
Before the establishment of Toper Coffee Academy, there were no institutions providing specialized coffee training in our region, which is crucial for the global coffee industry. In this region, where coffee is spread across the world and produced intensively, there was a significant need for world-class coffee education. Turkey’s place in the global coffee history and its unique culture also motivated us to establish a modern coffee school in Turkey. Toper brought its experience from coffee education in Canada, Taiwan, and China to Turkey with Toper Coffee Academy.
SCA and Toper Experience
With over half a century of experience, Toper roasts and grinds coffee in 132 countries across 5 continents. The Toper experience, which has developed expertise in all climate conditions, product varieties, and coffee habits around the world, continues to grow and evolve each day. SCA, as one of the most respected specialized associations in the global coffee industry, implements education, quality development, and communication programs related to coffee. Toper Coffee Academy combines Toper’s global expertise with SCA’s official training programs. Through this collaboration, students of Toper Coffee Academy receive the esteemed SCA diploma upon completing their training and exams.

Our training programs are conducted by renowned coffee experts who are authorized trainers by SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) as well as Toper specialists who are also SCA-certified trainers. Who is it important for?
The training at Coffee Academy is highly important not only for baristas and barista candidates but also for green coffee traders, coffee quality experts, coffee facility managers, roasting and grinding professionals, and experts in the coffee industry as a whole. Students who successfully complete the training are better prepared for international barista competitions and can find job opportunities more easily in every field of the coffee industry.
Roasting Course: Beginner and Intermediate (3 days)
As Coffee Academy, we offer a 3-day SCA roasting course. During this learning process, we first provide general knowledge about green coffee and then use these coffees for roasting exercises. Our goal is to ensure that participants can properly roast Turkish coffee, filter coffee, and espresso-style coffees, and to help them extract the maximum aroma from these types of coffee. Additionally, we explain how to use the air valve, adjust the flame settings, and utilize the profile system. On the final day, we test the roasted coffees through a cupping session.
Upon completion of the course and passing the SCA exam, you will be eligible to receive two diplomas at the Foundation and Intermediate levels. The duration of our course is 3 days.
